Summer is all about community. Whether you spend time at the beach, at the park or at your neighborhood pool, the season is a time for friends, family and neighbors.
And when you’re home, you’re connected with the whole planet through your television, computer and phone. Connectivity, though, is nothing without community.
That’s something Xfinity recognizes, and in collaboration with Comcast NBCUniversal, they brought that spirit to Atlanta with a Summer Splash pool party to celebrate the opening of Universal Studios Orlando’s brand-new Volcano Bay water theme park.
There, neighbors and community members enjoyed dips in the pool, food, and summertime fun while checking out the cutting-edge technology Xfinity has to offer. I had the opportunity to check out the party, and even as a techie, I definitely had some catching up to do.
Fun in the sun at a partner event in Philadelphia.
Upon arrival, I was quickly greeted with a beach towel, a waterproof phone pouch and a voucher for the large barbeque buffet ahead. I wasn’t even prepared to go swimming, but there I was, arms full of poolside essentials! The custom peacock pool floats and live DJ blasting summer tunes made for a perfect atmosphere.
In between stopping by each station and learning all about the features of Xfinity’s X1 Platform, I was even able to take some silly beachside summer photos at a green screen photobooth.
Meanwhile, as guests chatted and enjoyed the food from the barbeque buffet, they also got to experience Xfinity’s X1 Voice Remote. With the remote, guests could try their hand at simply speaking a request into the mic and summoning all the entertainment offered on live TV and Xfinity On Demand.
An Xfinity representative named Anthony demonstrated how the simple action of speaking an actor’s name into the remote—Tom Hanks for example—will pull up every movie in which Hanks has appeared. The remote also informs you how to watch those movies through live TV or On Demand programming.
There wasn’t much the X1 Voice Remote couldn’t handle. You could say a channel name, channel number, TV show and more on the comfortable, ergonomic remote. You can also get recommendations and set DVR recordings, which was definitely my favorite feature.
In our demo, we also got view footage of Universal Studios’ new Volcano Bay water theme park, which opened just this past May. The Polynesian-themed vacation destination is the latest Orlando theme park and has more than 15 attractions sure to make you feel like you’re in paradise.
Want to experience a bit of paradise for yourself before the end of the summer? Book a trip to Volcano Bay and get your splash on.
